Ok deh, pindah kebun maning, haha...! Sudah menjadi hal yang biasa jika terjadi perpindahan (rotasi) di perusahaan tempatku bekerja. Kali ini, aku kebagian di perkebunan Cengkeh, tepatnya di Afdeling Glagah Arum, Kebun Pancursari PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XII (Persero). Memang cengkeh tidak terasa asing bagiku karena sebelumnya aku pernah berhubungan dengan perkebunan ini walau hanya bergelut dengan hama penyakitnya. Di kebun yang luasnya kurang lebih 429 Ha ini murni ditanami cengkeh.

Kata orang, menangani cengkeh gampang-gampang susah. Hmm... ada benarnya juga sih, karena kita bisa melakukan pembibitan cengkeh dengan hasil yang baik tapi ketika ditanam dilapangan, bisa mati mendadak seperti terkena serangan jantung (lebay mode). Hal itu lah yang aku hadapi saat ini.

makanya, aku agak tersinggung klo ada orang yang ngomong "anda enak hanya mengelola satu komoditas". seringkali aku bales dengan peryataan tegas "klo anda berani melakukan pembibitan cengkeh lebih baik dari saya silahkan dan jika anda dapat menjamin tidak ada tanaman cengkeh yang mati, silahkan gantikan saya" (haha, curhat...!).

Ok, cukup dengan intermezonya. Cengkeh memiliki dua titik kritis yaitu hama penyakit dan fase pembungaan. Hama/penyakit sangat berhubungan dengan kelangsungan hidup cengkeh itu sendiri dilapangan sedangkan fase pembungaan berhubungan dengan panen. Dalah hal ini, cuaca tidak pernah bisa dipisahkan.

Pada kesempatan ini, saya akan memberikan sebuah booklet mini cengkeh, sekilas tentang proses budidaya cengkeh. Ini merupakan salah satu pijakan saya dalam melakukan proses budidaya, maklum sampai saat ini tidak ada pijakan baku atau SOP dalam proses budidaya cengkeh, namun saya berencana akan membuat SOP itu sendiri berdasarkan pengalaman dan literatur yang saya baca dan dipraktekan.

In an effort to implement conservation measures farmers have used a variety of production methods including reduced or zero tillage. Ini adalah salah satu tradisi yang ada di kebunku, kebun wonosari afdeling Gebug lor yang letaknya berdampingan dengan desa Wonorejo, Lawang Malang Jawa Timur. Perkebunan Teh, Afdeling Gebug Lor berada tepat persis di kaki Gunung Arjuna, Malang. So Pasti... Pemandangannya Indah sekali. Tiap hari, para karyawan pemetik akan berjalan berbondong-bondong ke arah gunung arjuna.

Setiap bulan Desember, di kebunku ini diadakan sebuah acara yang sering disebut "Selametan Kebun". Setiap Mandor Petik akan mengundang karyawan kebun untuk datang ke tempat yang sudah dia tentukan, yang pasti tempatnya di kebun teh. Mandor Petik yang mempunyai hajat menyediakan makanan sekedarnya (menurutku sih lebih dari sekedarnya, hehe...) untuk menjamu para tamu undangannya. Acara dimulai dengan sambutan Asisten tanaman setempat dan diakhiri dengan do'a.

Asal-usul tradisi ini bermula ketika 3 orang karyawan pemetik teh mengalami kecelakaan akibat tersambar petir sewaktu sedang memetik teh di waktu hujan. kejadian ini terjadi beberapa tahun silam. Oleh karena itu, dalam setiap do'a selalu mendo'akan almarhumah yang telah meninggal dalam tugas. Begitu besar resiko yang harus ditempuh untuk memproduksi teh yang berkualitas. Namun hal ini sering disepelekan karena harga teh yang tidak stabil jika dibandingkan dengan komoditas lain. Banyak orang bilang kebun teh adalah kebun yang rugi namun permasalahan inti tidak berada pada point itu. Intinya protect harga indonesia belum ada atau belum maksimal. Coba kita pikirkan, seandainya kebun kita adalah kebun kopi dan kakao semua tanpa ada kebun teh, karet dan kayu yang produksinya bisa setiap hari.

Jika kebun kita hanya 2 komoditas yaitu kopi dan kakao yang panen hanya pada waktu-waktu tertentu, biaya dari mana untuk menggaji karyawan per bulan atau bahkan per hari? disinilah peran kebun yang produksinya bisa diambil setiap hari seperti teh dan karet serta dapat menghasilkan produk siap jual dalam waktu singkat.
Hehe... tidak bermaksud membela kebun teh, hanya semua kommoditas di N-12 adalah satu kesatuan untuk mencapai visi dan misi perusahaan. Semua saling melengkapi.

Kembali ke tradisi kebunku, Dikebunku terdapat 13 orang Mandor Petik maka.... 13 Mandor = 13 kali makan gratis, haha... Just Kidding. Intinya bukan makan-makan tapi tradisi ini memupuk rasa syukur kita kepada Alloh SWT yang telah memberikan nikmat yang luar biasa, mempererat tali silaturahmi sesama karyawan kebun dan mendo'akan almarhumah yang telah meninggalkan kami ketika menjalankan tugas.
